2nd March
Dear All, Firstly I’d like to congratulate all athletes who competed at the Northern Region Carnival at Queanbeyan on the weekend. You competed against some very talented athletes, many who looked like they trained lots more than us!! We parents are so very proud of everyone. A very big thankyou to all you parents who took on jobs at the carnival. It was a great learning experience for many of us!, and not such hard tasks really. Most athletes qualified to the next level to participate at the ACT Carnival on 20th & 21st March at the AIS. Good luck to them all. To help prepare for that competition we have arranged for some extra coaches to come along to the next 2 Tuesday evenings to have some throws and running clinics for the athletes involved. We will be having a meeting next Monday 8th March at 6.30 at Yass Soldiers Club, where we will be discussing the end of season presentation. That will be a great opportunity for a discussion about planning for any changes for next season, so do come along. We look forward to some new ideas. If you have ideas and can’t come to meeting, do send an email. Our last session of the season will be the 23rd March. Apart from what we discuss at the meeting, we will have a few fun events, followed by some presentations and a sausage sizzle. Hope to see you all there. Cheers, Cath Williams President - Yass Little Athletics Club |

9th February
Dear All Little Athletes and families, Welcome to our new families: - I tend to send out a blurb from time to time, and so please reply if you have any comments or queries. A HUGE thankyou to all you parents who continue to help out whether on roster or not. As you know, without you all, we would not be able to run our meets. As many new to helping have discovered, it is not so hard once you get the hang of it. If unsure, just ask. Those who have still not had a go, please come along and be involved with your children’s sport, they love to have you there. Well done to all athletes, it is so pleasing to see so many of you enjoying your athletics, and making such huge efforts, even when it is very hot. We are seeing such obvious improvements in your abilities. Keep it up. Special thankyou to our ever patient Mike who has guided so many long jumper’s, and is now branching out to help in some other events. He is there on a totally voluntary basis, and is so very knowledgeable. A final reminder about the Northside Regionals on 27th & 28th Feb. Info attached. If you did not sign up tonight, please email me or hand form to Ingrid at HRG with name, age, rego number and events you wish to enter by 5pm Thursday (ie:- day after tomorrow). I would like to encourage many of you to attend; they are a little less casual than our meetings, but still good fun and a great experience for our athletes. Some may make it on to the next carnival, which is on at the AIS on 20th and 21st March. It is a very exciting place to be able to participate. We have 3 athletes attending the carnival at Lanyon this Sunday 14th, Sarah, Tom and Esther, good luck to them. Find up to date info on our website www.ylac.org.au and in Friday’s Tribune, thanks to Neil and Deb Glassford for their expertise in this area. See you next Tuesday. Any volunteers to get there at 4.30 to learn set up will be extremely welcome. Cath Williams President - Yass Little Athletics Club |
